 Paste As File is a small Windows extension which allows you to paste the contents of the clipboard to a file.

So what? If you've just pressed PrtSc to capture the current screen, for instance, then getting that image to disc will normally require you to launch a graphics program, paste the screen grab there and click File > Save.

With Paste As File, though, all you need to do is right-click the background of an Explorer window, select Paste As File, and the program will save the image to the current folder for you.

Paste As File works with all the main image formats - JPG, PNG, GIF, BMP, TIF, TGA, PCX - as well as RTF and plain text files. The only minor complication with the latter is that the program doesn't try to identify what sort of text file it is, so you may have to manually change the extension to HTML, CSS or whatever.

On balance, though, Paste As File is a smart tool which can help you make more productive use of your clipboard. Please note, though, it's only free for personal use: for commercial use you must contact the developer (see the Starpunch site for details).
